What Is VPN

Many new companies are beginning to ask, what is VPN? A VPN is a virtual private network. That may not explain a lot so people are still asking what is a VPN? A virtual private network is what the basis of computers all around the world will be run on in the future.

What Is VPN?
A VPN definition is a private network that can communicate information such as video, sound, and programs through remote sources over the internet. Remote Desktop is run on a VPN. IP Configuration is imperative for VPN’s to be set up correctly. Remote desktop is becoming more and more popular but very unfavorable for internet users that do not want to run on another desktop other than their own.

SSL VPN Definition
An SSL VPN is a little different than a standard VPN. This Secured Socket Layer Virtual Private Network does not require specific software to be installed on the computer that is being accessed. This can come in handy for medical records, libraries, etc.

What is VPN Tunnel Mode Data
VPN tunnel mode data is a way that information is sent over a VPN. The information is encoded differently than it would be if it was being sent out by an IP address therefore allowing the information to be sent over an insecure network securely.

VPN Future
This little bit of information and data may still have people asking, “What is VPN”? Researched online, VPN offers very little information for the average internet user. Most of the information is complex and has not been broken down into plain English. The important thing to understand about VPN is that it is a secure network between two computers that are not located on the same secured network. It is basically a “private” network set up on a “public” network.

If VPN did not exist, when remote desktop was enabled, anyone that wanted to access a computer would be able to. The VPN encrypts the data so that the information being sent over the internet is reliability sent to the computer that is requesting it and not ending up somewhere else.

VPN will eventually take over many personal computers. People will have a modem and a monitor in their house and their information will be stored on a server somewhere else. It will be accessed with a VPN. As VPN becomes more popular, more security features are put into place such as the tunnel modes. All of these features make it a great addition to the computer world.
